A year has passed since we set out on the mission to hitch hike around the world. We had plans for everything. Where we would travel, when, how we would film, what we would do. We planned to work in every country, to trade our items in every country, to visit organizations on the way. We even made a time schedule. The trip did not go according to plan. Not even close. We were supposed to hitch around the world together and we didn't get further than to Lebanon before we split up. Still,...

I had this brilliant idea of buying a car in Lebanon. There was this SLC 450 aged 36 years that was o so beautiful. I looked at the prices in Norway and the prices here, tried to calculate all the costs of getting it to Norway, decided that it might just be profitable and I put the wheels in motion. Sort of speak. As it turns out, buying a car in a country far from home where you know few people, have no idea about prices and don’t speak the language, especially when the ca...

Life at the office, as I have referred to it in earlier blogs, meant my life here in Tripoli. When Peter was here, the office was our basecamp. It was a cool place to stay with two wonderful couches, a computer with access to internet, a water dispenser, a door that could be locked and view that was ever present through the all glass outer walls. After the lockable door, then perhaps the air conditioner was the item appreciated the most at the time we spent here together, now however it has ...

I have been staying with Talal quite a bit these last few weeks. Besides working in the
office, I fairly often go with Talal somewhere. These last couple of weeks his attention has been directed at a construction site just outside of town. There are some properties with an
amazing view over Tripoli and the surrounding areas that are being developed there.
As we drove onto the site one day in the Chevrolet Avalanche, the workers come out one b...

The original plan had been that we split up there in Damascus. I would go back to Tripoli
via Beirut and Peter would head north towards Turkey via Palmyra. That was the old plan. The
new plan was that we both go together to Palmyra, then we split there and I head back via
Homs. We went into town with Alaa one last time even though it meant going in the wrong
direction because we needed cash and apparently there were no ATM's between us and the ...

On the road again! It had been too long since we'd had ourselves a trip beyond Beirut. For
Peter it was the start of another leg, a long one. For me it would only be a round trip to
Syria and back. But the feeling of hitting the road was there in me too. We had decided to
hitch over the mountains to Baalbak and go south and then east from there, instead of taking
the highway via Beirut. The mountains we would have to...

We have been waiting a lot the past couple of months. We waited for an answer from the Iranian foreign ministry about our visa application. We waited for an answer from the ship Boi Branco if we can come along. We waited for Happy Fox to go to Cyprus. The result was that we spent a lot of our time in a relatively small area close to the office where we are sleeping in downtown Tripoli. After a month we decided it was time to move on, no matter what. The coming Sunday we would leave Lebanon. T...

This is what we wrote before the trip started about how and what we wanted to film.
We will document our travels in HD quality film thoroughly from the very start. With this material we will make video blogs as frequent as possible. Our ambition is to allure a production company with this material and ultimately have a TV series made about our journey.
The way we see it, such a series should...

Inspired by the Earth Charter, we wrote this before starting on the trip.
We feel that it would be naive and disrespectful towards the people we hope to visit if we presumed that we, two ordinary guys, could come along and make positive change in their lives. On the contrary, we are hoping that they will make a positive change in ours.
The relationship between learning, teaching and making a difference is very clear to us. We don't preach in our nei...
